About
Traveller Living History
We work as a partnership of Travellers and Settled people working together to improve and enhance the social and economic situation of the Travelling Community in County Meath and beyond. Our focus is on Traveller heritage, personal development, employability, culture and identity, targeting our engagement to families and young people in particular
Connecting with the Community
We continually link in with other local, regional, national and international organisations raising awareness of Travellers heritage and culture and working with others to address issues for both the Travelling community and the wider community.
Why Traveller Living History matters.
We firmly believe that it is through practicing the skills of our ancestors, by sharing their ways and their stories, from those who knew the land so intimately and recognized their place within it, that we can strengthen our connection to our ethnic identity, and the wider community as a hole.
We run several projects including:
Ø The Traveller Living History Exhibition
Ø Kick Start Social Enterprise Project
Ø Traveller Women’s Group Activities
Ø Traveller Men’s Group Activities
Ø Education and Training Programmes
Ø Employment Initiative
Ø Counselling Service
Ø Traveller Accommodation Support
Ø Prison Links Project
Ø Family Support Programme
Ø School Age Childcare Service
Ø Youth Development Programmes
Ø Community Farm at Carnaross
Our Aim
Our overall aim is to provide a culturally appropriate non-judgemental support service for Travellers in County Meath and beyond.
To ensure Travellers have their voice heard and listened to. To promote and value Traveller culture and identity.
